Deauthorizing the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook
Deauthorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook when you no longer want to allow the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook to securely communicate with your SmartVault account.
For example, if you use a laptop computer and your laptop computer is lost or stolen, go into the SmartVault portal and deauthorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook to prevent anyone else who tries to use the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook installed to access files stored in your SmartVault account.
If you still have access to the computer where the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook is installed, you can also deauthorize the plug-in by deleting the configuration XML files associated with the plug-in. For example, assume that the laptop computer you normally use has a hard drive failure, and you are unable to use the laptop while it is sent in for repairs. While your laptop is being repaired, you use an old desktop computer in your office as a temporary computer, and you install the authorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook on this computer. However, when your repaired laptop computer comes back, you no longer want to use the plug-in on the desktop computer, so you deauthorize the plug-in by deleting the XML file associated with the PIN for the SmartVault user ID you use for the plug-in.
To deauthorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook:
1. If you want to deauthorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook from the SmartVault portal, complete the following steps:
b. In the upper-right corner of the portal, click the My Info link.
c. In the right task pane, under Applications, click My Apps.
d. Under application, click the Remove link next to SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook.
e. Close the Request for Access dialog box.
2. If you want to deauthorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook on a desktop computer or laptop computer by deleting the XML file associated with the PIN for the SmartVault user ID you use for the plug-in, complete the following steps:
a. Close Microsoft Outlook.
a. Open Windows Explorer.
b. Browse to the \Users\UserName\AppData\SmartVault\SVWidgets\PINs folder.
c. Delete the SV Outlook_firstname.lastnameATdomainname.com.xml file, where firstname.lastnameATdomainname.com is the email address you use for your SmartVault user ID.
d. Empty the Recycle Bin on the local computer.
e. Open Microsoft Outlook.
f. Create a new email.
g. Confirm that the SmartVault User ID Setup dialog box displays, prompting you to provide your SmartVault user ID and get a PIN from the SmartVault portal in order to authorize the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook to securely communicate with your SmartVault account.
h. Close the SmartVault User ID Setup dialog box. You do not want to continue with the setup process, because you no longer want to use the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook on the computer.
