Editing Documents Using the SmartVault Inbox
You can edit documents stored in the SmartVault portal using the SmartVault Inbox.
Note: Before you can edit documents into the SmartVault portal using the SmartVault Inbox, you must install the SmartVault Desktop software. The SmartVault Inbox is included in the SmartVault Desktop software. For more information about installing the SmartVault Desktop software, see “Understanding and Installing the SmartVault Desktop Software” .
To edit documents using the SmartVault Inbox:
1. Install the SmartVault Desktop software. For more information, see “Understanding and Installing the SmartVault Desktop Software” .
2. Verify that you are signed in to your SmartVault account by completing the following steps:
a. On the Start menu, click Start > Programs > SmartVault > SmartVault Launchpad.
b. If the Sign in to your SmartVault account link displays, you are not signed in to your SmartVault account. Click Sign in to your SmartVault account, type the email address and password for your SmartVault account, and then click Sign In.
c. If the Sign in to your SmartVault account link does not display, you are already signed in to your SmartVault account.
3. On the SmartVault Launchpad, click SmartVault Inbox.
4. Select the All Folders tab.
5. Click Browse.
6. Browse to and select the vault or folder that contains the document you want to edit, and then click Select.
7. Select the document you want to edit, and then click Save.
8. Browse to the location on your local computer where you want to save the document, and then click Save again.
9. Browse to the location on your local computer where you saved the document you want to edit, and then complete the following steps:
a. Open the document.
b. Edit the document.
c. Save your changes.
10. In the SmartVault Inbox, click Add.
11. Click Browse.
12. Browse to the location of your edited document, select the document, and then click Open.
13. In the Name field, type a new name for the document.
14. If you want to change the document description, in the Description field, type a new description for the document.
15. Click Accept.
