Mapping a SmartVault Drive on Windows Vista and Windows 7 Computers
This topic explains how to map a SmartVault Drive on Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers. For more information about SmartVault Drives, see “Understanding and Mapping SmartVault Drives” .

To map a SmartVault Drive on Windows Vista or Windows 7:
1. If you use Windows 7, ensure that the Automatically detect settings option for Local Area Network (LAN) Settings in Internet Explorer is disabled.
In Windows 7, disabling the Automatically detect settings option for LAN settings in Internet Explorer improves the way Windows Explorer communicates with the SmartVault Drive.
Even if you use a browser other than Internet Explorer, such as Mozilla Firefox, you should go to Internet Explorer and disable the Automatically detect settings option in Internet Explorer.
The SmartVault Drive works in conjunction with Windows Explorer, and in the Microsoft operating system, Internet Explorer works on top of Windows Explorer. Disabling this setting in Internet Explorer improves the way Windows Explorer communicates with the SmartVault Drive.
