Permissions Required to Create and Share Vaults and Folders
Your ability to create vaults and folders is based on the type of permissions your SmartVault user ID has.
If you want to create vaults, you must have a user license and your SmartVault user ID must be a member of the SmartVault Administrators group.
• If you are the person who opened the SmartVault account, by default you have a user license, your user ID is a member of the SmartVault Administrators group, and you can create both vaults and folders.
• If you did not open the SmartVault account and you are not a member of the SmartVault Administrators group, but you want to be able to create vaults, ask the SmartVault account owner or another SmartVault Administrator to add you to the SmartVault Administrators group. For more information, see
“Adding Users to the SmartVault Administrators Group” .
Note: Only users with user licenses can be members of the SmartVault Administrators group. Clients and guests invited to the account cannot be members of the SmartVault Administrators group.
If you want to create folders, you must have a user license and your SmartVault user ID must be a member of either the Vault Managers group or the Full Access group for a vault. Only users with user licenses can be members of these groups. Clients and guests invited to the account cannot be members of these groups. For more information about adding members to these groups, see
“Sharing Vaults Using the Manage Group Members Option” .
