Signing In to SmartVault from the SmartVault Desktop Software
Once you install the SmartVault Desktop software, you can use the items included in the SmartVault Desktop software, such as the SmartVault Inbox and SmartVault Drive, to securely upload and manage document stored in SmartVault. For more information about the SmartVault Desktop software, see “Understanding and Installing the SmartVault Desktop Software” .
If you use QuickBooks, you can also use the SmartVault Toolbar and QuickBooks backup and restore capabilities that come with the SmartVault Desktop software.
However, before you can use some of the items included in the SmartVault Desktop software, such as the SmartVault Inbox and SmartVault Drive, you must sign in to SmartVault from the SmartVault Desktop software application. Signing in to SmartVault from the SmartVault Desktop software establishes a secure communication channel into the SmartVault data center, and once this secure channel is established you can use components in the SmartVault Desktop software, such as the SmartVault Inbox and SmartVault Drive, to securely upload and manage your documents.
Note: You can also securely upload and manage your documents from any supported web browser by signing in to the SmartVault portal. For more information, see “Signing In to the SmartVault Portal” .
To sign in to SmartVault from the SmartVault Desktop software:
Note: If you use SmartVault in a hosted desktop environment, your steps for signing in to the SmartVault Desktop software may be different based on the configuration specified for your hosted desktop by your hosting provider. For specific instructions about signing in to SmartVault from SmartVault Desktop software installed in a hosted environment, contact you hosting provider’s Technical Support team.
1. Click Start > All Programs > SmartVault > SmartVault Launchpad.
2. In the upper left corner of the SmartVault Launchpad, click the Sign in to your SmartVault account link.
3. In the green dialog box that displays in the lower right corner of your computer desktop, complete the following steps:
a. In the Email field, type the email address you specified for your SmartVault user ID.
b. In the Password field, type the password you specified for your SmartVault user ID.
c. Click Sign in.
Once you sign in to SmartVault from the SmartVault Desktop software, the following actions occur:
The Sign in to your SmartVault account link no longer displays in the upper left corner of the SmartVault Launchpad
The SmartVault Inbox, SmartVault Drive, SmartVault Notifications, and Transfer Manager items on the SmartVault Launchpad display as active and you can access these features by clicking on the item.
