Syncing SmartVault Data
Syncing SmartVault Data
If you want to synchronize (or “mirror”) vaults and folders in your SmartVault account with one or more folders on your local computer or on a laptop, or upload a large number of documents and folders into SmartVault, you can use third-party products with syncing capabilities such as GoodSync and SyncToy.
Using a third-party product such as GoodSync or SyncToy allows you to perform the following actions:
• Upload a large amount of documents and folders into SmartVault.
• Backup a folder structure on a drive on your local computer to SmartVault.
• Synchronize a folder structure in SmartVault with a folder on your local hard drive, so you can still access files even when you are not connected to the Internet, such as when you are on an airplane.
• Synchronize a folder structure in SmartVault with folders on several different laptop computers, so that travelling workers always have access to the “latest and greatest” copies of files they need, and can also automatically synchronize their changes when they re-connect to the Internet.
For more information about using these products with SmartVault, see the following topics:
Note: You can also upload a large amount of data into SmartVault without using a third-party product such as GoodSync or SyncToy.
If you have only a single large file to upload (for example, a file between 100MB and 2 GB), or only a handful large files to upload (for example, fewer than 5 large files to upload), use the SmartVault Inbox to upload the files. For more information, see
“Uploading Documents Using the SmartVault Inbox” .
