Inviting Clients to Access Their Vault - Standard Plan

STANDARD PLAN USER

Once you've created a client or entity vault, you must invite the client to access their folders and files. Follow these steps to invite them to your SmartVault account and set their access permissions.

Inviting a Client

To invite a client to your account:

  1. Click the client or entity vault.
  2. Click the Settings icon Settings gear icon.png (container properties) at the top level of the vault.

  3. Go to the Access and Notifications tab and click Edit Access Settings.

  4. Click Add User.
  5. For the License type, select "Guest". Complete the User Information section and set the Access and Notifications Settings to "Read".

  6. Click Add to save the client's access. The user is added to the list on the Access and Notifications tab.
  7. Click Save Settings.

The client has access to their vault, but you must give them access to individual folders or subfolders.

Adding Folder Access

To add folder access:

  1. Click the client or entity vault and select the folder you want to give access to.
  2. Click the folder's Settings icon Settings gear icon.png .
  3. Go to the Access and Notifications tab and click Edit Access Settings.
  4. Click Add User.
  5. For the License type, select "Guest". Complete the User Information section and edit their permissions (Read, Write, Create, Delete, etc.) in the Access and Notification Settings section.
  6. Click Add to save the client's access. The user is added to the list on the Access and Notifications tab.
  7. Optionally, you can choose one of the options from the Apply Changes to menu: 
    • This folder only - Grants access to this folder only. Existing subfolders do not inherit permissions from the parent. However, any subfolders created after the permissions are set, inherit the parent's folder access settings. 
    • This folder and to all subfolders - Grants access to this folder and all existing subfolders. Any new folders created in the future will inherit the parent's access settings.  
  8. Click Save Settings.
  9. Refresh the page to see the folder icon showing the shared folder indicator Shared_folder_indicator.png.

    This means that your client can access that folder.
