To optimize speed, Outlook may automatically disable the SmartVault plugin to improve its startup performance. After this, Outlook will not attempt to reload it unless the registry key is fixed or the Add-in is completely reinstalled.
Resolving This Issue
If Outlook keeps deactivating an add-in, first try to uninstall and reinstall the SmartVault Plugin. If it doesn’t solve the issue and the add-in is still being displayed as inactive, follow these steps to activate the add-in:
- Open your Windows registry (run regedit.exe) and locate the following registry entries:
- Double-click on LoadBehavior and change the value to 3. This action will always set it to enable.
- Open Outlook. The add-in should now load automatically at startup.
Misusing Registry Editor can cause system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows to correct them. Ensure you make a back up of your registry before attempting any changes. Do not edit the Windows registry unless you are confident about doing so.
