Make Outlook Always Enable the SmartVault Plug-in

If Microsoft Outlook disables the SmartVault Outlook plug-in to improve performance, it may prevent the plug-in from automatically re-enabling. When this happens, the plug-in won’t reload unless it’s re-enabled through the Windows registry or reinstalled.

Resolve Outlook Disabling the SmartVault Plug-in

If Outlook continues to deactivate the SmartVault plug-in, we recommend starting with the simplest solution:

If reinstalling the plug-in doesn’t resolve the issue, follow the steps below to ensure Outlook always enables it at startup.

Update the Registry Setting

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Open Registry Editor.
    • Click the Windows Start button
    • Type regedit, then press Enter
  3. For Windows 10 users, type regedit in the taskbar search box.
  4. Navigate to the following registry key using the menu tree on the left:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Svault.Widgets.SVOutlook
  5. Update the LoadBehavior value.

    • Double-click LoadBehavior
    • Change the value to 3. This setting ensures the plug-in is always enabled.
  6. Open Outlook.
    The SmartVault plug-in should now load automatically when Outlook starts.
