Connecting Lacerte or ProSeries to SmartVault

SmartVault integrates with Intuit Lacerte and ProSeries tax applications, allowing you to send tax returns and other documents directly to SmartVault when printing from your tax software.

After the integration is connected, SmartVault appears as a print destination in Lacerte or ProSeries. When you print a document to SmartVault, you can tag it and store it in the appropriate client folder.

Before You Begin

Ensure the following requirements are met:

  • SmartVault Desktop Software is installed on your computer.
  • Lacerte or ProSeries is installed on the same computer.
  • You are signed in to SmartVault Launchpad.

SmartVault supports Lacerte and ProSeries 2020 and later versions.

  Note

SmartVault does not support ProSeries Basic.

Connecting SmartVault to Lacerte or ProSeries

Follow these steps to allow SmartVault to access your installed Intuit tax software.

  1. Open the SmartVault Launchpad on your computer. The SmartVault desktop software installs the following applications:
    • SmartVault Connected Desktop
    • SmartVault Launchpad
    • SmartVault Portal
    • SmartVault Inbox

  2. Click Sign In.

  3. Enter your SmartVault email address and password, then click Sign In.
  4. When the Launchpad opens, SmartVault checks for installed Intuit software.
  5. A Grant Access window appears for each supported Intuit application detected.
  6. Click Grant to allow SmartVault to connect with the Intuit program.

Once access is granted, the integration is complete.

Confirming the Integration

After connecting SmartVault:

  1. Open Lacerte or ProSeries.
  2. Open the Print window.
  3. In the Print To section, confirm that SmartVault appears as an available option.

If SmartVault appears in the Print To section, the integration is connected and available to use.

Troubleshooting: Grant Access Window Does Not Appear

If the Grant Access window does not appear, check the following:

Check if the Integration is Already Enabled

The integration may already be connected.

  1. Open SmartVault Launchpad.
  2. Go to User Settings > Extensions.
  3. Look for the Lacerte or ProSeries year you want to integrate.

If a checkmark appears next to the year, the integration is already active.

Update SmartVault Desktop Software

If the integration prompt does not appear, your SmartVault desktop software may need to be updated.

  1. Open SmartVault Launchpad.
  2. Click SmartVault Updates.
  3. Install any available updates.

Confirm the Tax Software Is Installed

The Grant Access window only appears if SmartVault detects Lacerte or ProSeries installed on the same computer.

Ensure the tax software is installed before attempting the integration.
