Moving a Company File to Another Vault

STANDARD PLAN USER

You can reorganize your integrated application folders, like QuickBooks, by moving a company file from one vault to another. After the move, you may need to reassign access permissions.

Before You Begin

  • Permissions: Only Administrators and Vault Managers can move, copy, or rename folders.
  • Vault-Level Restriction: You can only move company files at the vault level. The Applications folder itself can’t be relocated or nested under another folder.
  • Access Impact: Moving a company file removes existing access. You’ll need to grant vault or file permissions again unless you’re using vault groups.

  5. Reassign Permissions
    • After the move is complete, review who needs access.
    • Grant permissions on the new vault or file as needed.

  Note

If your SmartVault account uses vault groups, moved company files inherit group permissions automatically. Otherwise, assign access manually.
