ADMIN USER
One way to use SmartVault on a Mac is by mapping a drive using Transmit 5, a third-party WebDAV client. This connection allows you to drag and drop files, copy/paste folders, and manage SmartVault documents directly from your Mac.
You can also map the SmartVault Drive on a Mac using Finder or alternative WebDAV clients.
Setting Up SmartVault Drive in Transmit 5
-
Open Transmit 5
- Launch Transmit 5 on your Mac.
- Click Quick Connect, or go to Servers > Add New Server to save the connection for future use.
-
Enter WebDAV Connection Details
- In the Protocol dropdown, select WebDAV (HTTPS).
- Fill in the following fields:
- Server Address: docs.smartvault.com
- Port: (This is auto-filled)
- Username: Your SmartVault email address
- Password: Your SmartVault password
-

Using Transmit with SmartVault
Once connected, the SmartVault Drive will appear in Transmit's right-hand panel, allowing you to:
- Drag and drop files from your Mac (left panel) into SmartVault (right panel).
- Right-click on files to rename, delete, or move them.
- Create folders by right-clicking and selecting New Folder.
- Open files by right-clicking and choosing Open. (Note: Double-clicking downloads files instead of opening them.)
- Save edits directly into SmartVault when closing a file.
Important Considerations
- Permissions Required: You must have an Admin or Employee SmartVault license to use SmartVault Drive. Guest users do not have access.
- WebDAV Limitations: Performance may be affected if handling large files or high volumes of data.
- Support Notice: SmartVault does not provide technical support for Transmit.
- Alternative Connection Methods: See Mapping the SmartVault Drive on a Mac for other setup options.
