Editing a Client or Company Name

Editing Client Information

To change a client's name or company name in SmartVault:

  1. Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
  2. From the Dashboard, click the Clients icon. 


    If you have your View Preferences set to "2020 New View", follow the Steps in Client Management.

  3. Click the search icon to search for the client whose name or company name you wish to change.
  4. If you are using the List View, continue to the next step. If you are using the V-Card view, skip to step 6.
  5. Click the client's name in the List View to edit it. Then go to step 7. 
  6. In the V-Card View, click the pencil icon to edit the client.
  7. Edit the client's first name, last name, or company name. Then click the save icon in the top left corner.

Steps in Client Management

  1. Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
  2. Select Client Management from the left sidebar.


  3. Locate the client you want to edit and click on it to open the Client Details page.


  4. On the Client Details page, click Edit.


  5. Edit the contact information as needed and click Save Client.


Redistributing the Updated Client

After changing client information, you must redistribute your modified client(s) to reorder your client list in alphabetical order in the Client Portal.

  1. From the Dashboard, click the Files and Folders icon.
  2. Navigate to the Client's container, and click on the Container properties icon.


    If you have your View Preferences set to "2020 New View", visit the section Item Properties of Navigating the New Files and Folders View to learn how to access the client's vault properties.

  3. Click the Redistribute Clients tab.
  4. Click Submit Redistribute Request
