To cancel your SmartVault subscription, you must email our billing team rather than use any self-service option in the portal. Your subscription ends at the end of your current billing cycle. Once your subscription ends, your login is deactivated, and you will no longer have access to your documents in SmartVault.
Important Notes
- Only Admin Users or Account Owners can request to close a SmartVault account.
- SmartVault employees cannot close your account without a request from an Admin or Account Owner.
- To avoid additional charges, make sure any cancellation request is submitted before your next billing date. For further details, please visit the SmartVault Refund Policy.
Backing Up Your Documents
When your subscription ends, SmartVault deletes all your documents, QuickBooks entries, and any data stored in SmartVault. If you have attached documents to QuickBooks entries, made notes using the SmartVault Toolbar, or stored QuickBooks company file backups, these are also removed.
Before cancelling:
- You can download or back up your documents locally (using the SmartVault Connected Desktop or SmartVault Drive) or to another secure location.
- Ensure you complete this before your subscription ends, as you will not have access to your SmartVault account afterward.
How to Cancel
- Email help@smartvault.com from the Admin/Owner email address associated with your SmartVault account.
- Include the following details in your email:
- Contact Name
- Account Name
- Reason for Cancellation
- Once our Billing team receives your request, they will confirm your cancellation.
- You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been canceled.
After You Cancel
- Final Billing Cycle: Your account remains active until your current billing cycle ends. If you change your mind during this period, please let us know as soon as possible.
- Document Access: After the subscription ends, you won’t be able to log in or retrieve your files from SmartVault.
- Data Retention: SmartVault will permanently delete stored documents and data associated with your account once cancellation is complete.
