Installing the SmartVault Desktop Software

The SmartVault Desktop software installs the following applications on your local computer:

  • SmartVault Connected Desktop
  • SmartVault Launchpad
  • SmartVault Portal
  • SmartVault Inbox

Installing the Desktop Software

To install the SmartVault Desktop software, you must first download the installation file from the SmartVault Portal Home or Settings page.

The following video walks through the download and installation process.

Option 1. Download the installation file from the Home page

  1. Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
  2. Click the Install desktop app tile. 
  3. The installation file downloads and appears in the Download bar of your browser. A message will appear with additional information. 
  4. Run the installation file.

Option 2. Download the installation file from the Settings page 

  1. Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
  2. Click on your initials at the top of the screen, and click Settings.
  3. Click MS Windows under SmartVault Apps for.
  4. Click Download SmartVault for Microsoft Windows.
  5. Run the installer file.

Run the installation file

  1. Run the SmartVaultSetup.exe from your browser's Download Bar or your Downloads folder.

  2. Click Yes on the security warning.
  3. Follow the prompts on the SmartVault Install Wizard.
  4. Accept the Terms of the license agreement and then click Next
  5. Choose the default product install path and then click Next.


    You should install this software in your C:\ drive.

  6. To create desktop shortcuts for the SmartVault Connected Desktop, SmartVault Launchpad, SmartVault Portal, and the SmartVault Inbox, enable the Create desktop shortcut checkbox for each item you want to create a desktop shortcut for and then click Next.
  7. Click Finish to complete the installation.
