Supplemental Details
Auto-Logout on Inactivity
Previously, Windows Desktop Client sessions remained open indefinitely until you manually signed out, leaving sessions vulnerable when stepping away from your desk. Auto-Logout on Inactivity minimizes this risk by automatically signing you out after a period of inactivity. The default inactivity period is 15 minutes, though your firm can extend this based on your preference.
Client Information Sync
You can now edit client information directly within your Windows Desktop Client without having to navigate to the SmartVault web portal. Any changes you make will automatically sync to SmartVault's web portal, keeping client records up to date across both platforms.
Folder expansion now limited to the last two tax years for faster load times
Previously, expanding folders within the Windows Desktop Client would expand all folders across all clients at once, causing long load times for firms with a large number of clients. To minimize these delays, you now have the option to expand folders created in just the last two tax years.
Connected Desktop folder view: As shown by the collapsed folders in the image above, all folders are no longer expanded by default.
Removed SmartVault Inbox Shortcut
We removed the SmartVault Inbox Shortcut because we no longer support this feature.
Legacy view: The original installation shortcut option before it was removed.
Individual client name field split into first and last name fields
Previously, individual client records in the Windows Desktop Client displayed a single name field. This has been updated to match the web portal, with separate fields for first name and last name.
