When using SmartVault on your mobile device (smartphone or tablet), you now have two options for adding documents:
- SmartScan: Capture documents directly using your device camera with intelligent document recognition technology that automatically detects, crops, and enhances document edges. View System Requirements for SmartScan.
- Traditional Upload: Select existing files from your mobile device.
The following video walks you through uploading documents using SmartScan.
- Sign in to the SmartVault Portal from your mobile device using a web browser (e.g., Safari or Chrome).
- Tap the Upload a Document button.
- Choose the destination folder for your upload.
- Tap Upload file.
- You'll see two main options:
Option A: Use SmartScan
- Tap Take a Photo.
- If prompted, allow SmartVault to access your mobile device camera.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to position your document within the frame.
- Tap Start Scanning to capture the document.
- To add more pages to the same document:
- Capture additional pages as needed.
- Each page will be added to your multi-page document.
- When finished scanning all pages/documents, tap the Page Counter icon (bottom right).
- Review your scanned document. You can delete or rearrange pages if needed.
- Tap Submit.
- Tap Save to complete the scan and store your document as a multi-page PDF in SmartVault.
Option B: Upload Existing Files
- Tap Select a File to access documents stored on your device.
- Choose your file source:
- Photo Library: select existing images or photos
- Take Photo: capture a new document with your device's camera

- Select the file(s) you want to upload. You can select multiple files at once.
- Tap Save to complete the upload.
- Sign in to the SmartVault Portal from your mobile device using a web browser (e.g., Safari or Chrome).
- Tap View Files and Folders from the left navigation.
- Navigate to the folder where you want to upload the file.
- Tap Upload file.
- You'll see two main options:

- Follow the on-screen instructions to position your document within the frame.
- Tap Start Scanning to capture the document.
- To add more pages to the same document:

Note
You can upload multiple files simultaneously, and file types such as images and PDFs are supported.
Tips for Using SmartScan
- Ensure good lighting when capturing documents
- Keep your device steady for best results
- Use a dark, contrasting background for better edge detection
- Review each page before submitting
