Troubleshooting: SmartVault Drive Remembered Connections

When you try to map SmartVault drive, you may see an error message that says:

Exception: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The local device name has a remembered connection to another network resource.

This error means SmartVault Drive is already mapped to your computer with a different SmartVault User ID. You need to disconnect the previous connection before you can map the drive with your SmartVault User ID.

Disconnecting Previous Users from SmartVault Drive

To disconnect previous connections to SmartVault Drive:

  1. Go to your Windows taskbar, click Show Hidden Icons , right-click the SmartVault icon, and select Disconnect Mapped Drive.
    • If the SmartVault icon is missing from your taskbar, open SmartVault Connected Desktop and sign in. Close the app, then complete step 1.

  2. Right-click on the SmartVault icon in the Windows taskbar again and select User Settings.
  3. Go to the Preferences tab, deselect Remember my user name, then click OK.
  4. Remap the drive. To remap the drive, you can:
    • Go to the SmartVault Launchpad and click SmartVaultDrive to open Map SmartVault Drive - Smartvault.
    • Right-click on the SmartVault icon in the Windows taskbar again and select Map SmartVault Drive…
