If you've forgotten your password or want to change it, this article walks you through what to do—and what to check if something doesn't work as expected.
Note
If you use SmartVault Drive, you'll need to remap your drive after changing your password.
SmartVault employees cannot see your password.
Resetting Your Password
Use these steps if you can't sign in or forgot your password.
- Go to the SmartVault sign-in page.
- Click Forgot password?
- Enter the email address associated with your SmartVault account.
- Click Send reset email.

Open the email from SmartVault (notify@my.smartvault.com) and click the reset password link.
Important
The link expires in 24 hours.
- Enter your new password following these requirements:
- Minimum 12 characters.
- At least one uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a punctuation mark.
- No colon, semicolon, or underscore (_) symbol.
- Retype it to confirm, then click Set New Password.
- SmartVault will send a two-factor authentication code after you change your password.
Tip
Password reset emails are usually delivered within a few minutes.
Didn't Receive the Password Reset Email?
If you didn't get the reset email, try the following before requesting another one:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Make sure you entered the correct email address.
- Wait a few minutes—email delivery can be delayed.
- If you're using a work or company email, your organization's email security may be blocking the message.
About email allowlisting (sometimes called "whitelisting")
Some organizations block automated emails by default.
Allowlisting means telling your email system that SmartVault emails are safe and should be delivered.
If you're not sure how to do this, your IT team or email administrator can help.

Allowlisting is handled by your email system—not inside SmartVault.
If you still don't receive the email after trying these steps, contact your SmartVault administrator or SmartVault Support for help.
Changing Your Password (If You're Already Signed In)
If you know your current password and just want to change it:
- Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
- Click the initials in the top-right corner of the page, then select Settings.
- Under User Settings, click Manage Password.
- Enter your current password and your new password.
- Confirm your new password, then click Save Changes.

To avoid sign-in issues:

Choose a memorable, strong password.
A combination of letters, numbers, and symbols can help, but the most important thing is that it's unique and challenging for others to guess. -
Check your saved passwords.
After resetting your SmartVault password, update any saved passwords in your browser or password manager so you don't get locked out. -
Use the exact email you registered with.
Password reset emails are sent to your SmartVault account email—double-check you're using the correct address.
