Copying Your Existing Folder Structure into SmartVault

Use the SmartVault Drive to recreate your current folder hierarchy in SmartVault, then copy and paste your local folders into the mapped drive.

Before You Begin

  • Install & map the SmartVault Drive. See Mapping the SmartVault Drive.
  • Check your data size. Plan to move files in batches of 1 GB or less to avoid timeouts.

How to Move Your Folders

  1. Create Vaults and Parent Folders
    • In Windows Explorer, open your mapped SmartVault Drive.
    • Right-click and choose New > Folder to build the same vaults and top-level folders you use locally.
  2. Copy Your Local Folders
    • Select a group of folders up to 1 GB in size on your computer.
    • Drag and drop—or copy and paste—them into the matching folder in the SmartVault Drive.
    • Wait for the transfer to complete before proceeding with the next batch.

  Tip

Monitor the SmartVault tray icon to see upload progress and avoid overloading your connection.
