Uploading Files as a Guest User

As a Guest User, you can use File Exchange to upload documents to your account. Your account manager (the person who invited you to create your guest account) can view and download any files you upload.

  Note

In the example below, we are uploading a W-2 form to a folder called “Client Source Documents.” The folders in your account may be different.

Uploading Files in File Exchange

To upload a document using File Exchange:

  1. Sign in to the SmartVault Portal.
  2. Enter your email address and password you used to activate your guest account.
  3. Click Sign In.

      Note

    If you have forgotten your password, click Can't sign in? and follow the instructions to reset your password.

  4. Select File Exchange. You will see only the folders where you can upload files.

      Note

    Your account manager selects the folders you see on the File exchange page. You cannot upload files to any other folders.

  5. Click the folder where you would like to upload your files.

  6. Click Upload file to open Upload file here.

  7. Drag and drop your file inside the drag and drop area.
    • To upload a file from your computer, click inside the drag and drop area, select the file(s) you want to upload, then click Open.

  8. Add more files if needed. Click Save when you’re done.

  9. A confirmation message appears. A green check mark shows you which files were uploaded.
  10. Click Close close_icon.png to close the message.
