ADMIN USER
The "Unsupported File Extension Upload Failure" error occurs when you try to upload a file type that SmartVault does not support. You can identify and resolve the issue by adjusting the file or using alternative methods.
Why This Error Occurs
To ensure data security, SmartVault restricts certain file types. The system prevents uploading files with blocked extensions to protect your account. Blocked extensions typically include executable, script, or system files that could pose security risks.
How to Resolve the Issue
If you receive the "Unsupported File Extension" error, follow these steps:
-
Check the File Extension:
- Review the file's extension and confirm whether it's on the Unsupported File Extensions list below.
- If your file has a blocked extension, proceed to the next step.
-
Rename the File (If Possible):
- If the file extension is cosmetic and does not affect its functionality (e.g., a .txt file renamed as a .bat), it may be possible to rename the file with a supported extension.
- Example: Change document.bat to document.txt.
-
Use an Alternative Method for Blocked Files:
- For certain file types, such as QuickBooks company files (.qbw). SmartVault provides alternative methods for secure storage:
- QuickBooks Files: To store your QuickBooks files securely, use the SmartVault Launchpad's Backup/Restore QuickBooks feature.
- Executable Files: Files like .exe or .bat should not be uploaded. Instead, share them through other means, like email or file-sharing services.
- For certain file types, such as QuickBooks company files (.qbw). SmartVault provides alternative methods for secure storage:
-
Convert the File (If Applicable):
- Some unsupported file types can be converted to supported formats. For example, if the content allows, you could convert .asp files into .html files.
-
Reach Out for Support:
- If you need help proceeding or if the blocked file type is critical for your workflow, contact SmartVault support.
