Note
The Microsoft plug-ins for SmartVault are currently unavailable for Mac users.
Preparing for Installation
- Update Applications: Install the latest Microsoft Outlook and Word versions on your device.
- Remove Older Plug-ins: Uninstall any older versions of the SmartVault plug-ins for either Outlook or Word.
- Restart Your Device: After uninstallation, restart your computer for complete removal.
- Select Installation Location: While SmartVault typically installs the Microsoft plug-ins in a default location, if you prefer a custom location, create the desired folder path before initiating the installation.
Installing the Plug-ins
Once you've prepared your device as outlined in the previous section:
- Download the SmartVault Plug-in installation file. This file will install both the Outlook and Word plug-ins.
- Close any open instances of Outlook and Word.
- Run the setup.exe file and click Next.
- Check the "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" option and click Next.
- Choose Typical for the setup type.
- Click Install.
- If a security warning appears, click Yes.
- Click Finish to close the setup window.
- Open either Outlook or Word.
- Enter your SmartVault User ID (email address) and click OK.
- Click Get Pin. This action will redirect you to the SmartVault Portal.
- Sign in to SmartVault.
Note
If you have 2-factor authentication turned on, you must provide the Verification Code. This code is different from the PIN for the plug-in.
- Request for Access appears with a User PIN.
- Copy the PIN and go to SmartVault User ID Setup. Paste the PIN into Enter User PIN here and click OK.
- You will receive a success notification. Click OK.
- You will now see SmartVault in the ribbon of Outlook and Word.
